Yijian Privacy Policy

Scope

This policy explains how the “Yijian · 一笺” Chrome new-tab extension handles data. It provides classical Chinese poetry and prose, illustrations, reading panels and favorites, and replaces the Chrome new-tab page. Calendar dates, Chinese lunar dates and solar terms are calculated locally without an additional network service or precise location request. This policy applies to the extension.

Data stored on your device

Yijian uses Chrome local storage for saved poems and their content snapshots, display preferences, recently displayed poem IDs, the most recent successful online recommendation response, and the anonymous client identifier returned by Jinrishici. These support favorites, offline reading, avoiding repetition, display choices and online recommendation requests.

Poem display history retains up to the latest 24 entries. The cache retains the latest successful response. Favorites and settings remain until you remove or change them or clear extension data. Poem display history is a record of poems shown by Yijian, not a history of websites you visited.

The extension does not read Chrome browsing history, the contents of other tabs, passwords, payment details or browser bookmarks. It does not require an account or request precise location permission. nabulalogic currently operates no server that receives these local favorites and preferences, and the extension includes no advertising or usage analytics SDK.

Online recommendations and Jinrishici

Online recommendations are enabled by default. When you open a new tab or request another poem, Yijian may request the official Jinrishici endpoint over HTTPS to receive a poem, author, work, original text and an available translation. Short-lived caching, shared concurrent requests and failure backoff reduce repeated requests.

The network connection exposes the source IP and ordinary HTTP request information to Jinrishici. The extension stores the service’s anonymous client identifier and reuses it in request headers. Requests allow cookies for that service managed by the browser. Jinrishici may use IP and related information to select recommendations. The identifier is not a user login account or an API key you need to supply.

Yijian does not actively send favorites, display settings, other websites’ browsing history or precise location data to Jinrishici. The service controls its own handling, retention and deletion of request information, identifiers and cookies. nabulalogic cannot promise deletion of records held by the service; contact Jinrishici for information about its server-side processing.

Your choices and deleting data

Turn off “Online poetry recommendations” in settings to stop new recommendation requests. A request already in progress may have been sent and may finish. Turning the feature off does not remove past records held by the service. Bundled offline poetry and local favorites remain available.

Removing a favorite removes that saved entry and its snapshot. Uninstalling the extension removes its Chrome local storage, including favorites and preferences. Cookies managed by Chrome for the third-party service must be cleared separately through the browser’s site-data settings. These actions do not delete records held on third-party servers.

Data use and protection

nabulalogic does not sell user data from this extension or use it for advertising, credit assessment or purposes unrelated to poetry reading. The extension requests local storage access and access to the official Jinrishici domain. Recommendations use HTTPS; executable JavaScript, fonts and illustrations are bundled with the extension.

Updates and contact

If accounts, synchronization, analytics, payment or other data processing are introduced, this policy and the store disclosures will be updated before those features are enabled.
